Business Line of Credit in Nelly Bay
Nelly Bay is where Magnetic Island's shops, services and arrivals meet. Townsville City Council's local-area sheet says Nelly Bay will continue to serve as the primary service centre and gateway to the island, with tourist accommodation and centre facilities, and lists it as a key location of commercial, retail and business activity.

Business Line of Credit around Nelly Bay
The sheet (read 7 October 2026) is dated 14 December 2020, more than a year old, and it is a planning outline, not a count of businesses. It describes the other island communities as predominantly residential: Picnic Bay, Arcadia and Horseshoe Bay, each with either local shops or some small-scale tourism accommodation. Nelly Bay is the one it sets apart as the service centre.
None of these pages mentions credit, so what follows is our inference, not a rule: the lines on this site turn on the purpose of a loan, not on where the business trades. Treasury says consumer credit laws, including responsible lending obligations, do not generally apply to business and commercial lending, and an ASIC Commissioner said in 2019 that a loan to an individual predominantly for a business purpose is not subject to them, 'predominant' meaning more than half. A shop or kiosk at Nelly Bay and one on the mainland are, on those statements, in the same position. The council sheet says nothing about credit, and we state nothing about any particular business.
